Ask Morgana 036: Gaynor Rowlands
Gaynor Rowlands was a beauty whose very brief career coincided with the transition from the Victorian to Edwardian age. Born in England to Welsh parents, she was known as ‘Eos Gwallia‘ the Nightingale of Wales. She died of a heart attack at the age of 23, following surgery for appendicitis. At the time of her death she was probably the most photographed young, female entertainer of the time. The postcards below show that her porcelain beauty suits roles from Salome to a Regency buck!
